Pianist/vocalist Tim Nelson has no single speciality. Although he started with 10 years of classical training during his youth, his music experiences since then have run the gamut: jazz classics, musical theater, religious wedding ceremonies, 80s hits, and even “Radiohead played in the style of elevator music.” Now, he focuses on simply playing the music people want to hear, which is different at every gig.

Over the years he’s had the opportunity to make music in interesting places including the Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay, the Berkeley City Club, the Sonoma and Livermore Wine Countries, and even the San Francisco Zoo. He’s also entertained some notable people including movie director Spike Lee and media personality Dr. Ruth Westheimer.

By day Tim is a practicing structural engineer in San Francisco, but with music performance being part of life for almost 30 years, he’s maintained his performance chops by playing weddings and parties on weekends, and by playing piano and keytar bass at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church in Lower Pac Heights.

Tim gets his inspiration from his favorite “versatile” musician, Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters, as well as from and Billy Joel, Elton John, and Ben Folds, some of the best pianist/performers of our time.
