From the time he was a small child, Chef Julio’s interest for art has been a central part of his life. At the same time, it was always love of taste, color and texture, flavor, smell and beauty, nature and science. ART.

After embarking on a bachelor’s degree in painting, he decided to explore a different branch of art and the one he truly fell in love with, the Culinary Arts. Chef Julio Avila graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York in 1997 and since then has worked at four and five star resorts and hotels in the United States and on the island of Puerto Rico in the Caribbean.

In 2011 Chef Julio Avila decided to move in a different direction, and he created The Hometown Chef Catering Co.
