
Born and raised in Miami, FL, Chef Jay has always been exposed to a multitude of delicious cuisines. However, he only began his culinary journey 5 years ago at the young age of 20. Leaving behind a degree in Elementary Education, Chef Jay decided to enroll in a Culinary Arts program at Cape Coral Technical College in Fort Myers, FL. There he honed many skills with the help of his dedicated teacher, his friends, and his mentors.
While still in culinary school, Chef Jay obtained a job as a line cook for Hyatt Hotel Corporations. Upon leaving his culinary program, he returned to his home town. Back in Miami Beach, Chef Jay worked for Thomas Keller Restaurant Group at The Surf Club Restaurant, where he observed and absorbed many new fine dining techniques.
After his time at The Surf Club, Chef Jay focused his culinary efforts on the private catering world, providing meals for some of Miami’s most famous inhabitants and visitors. Always looking to continue his education, Chef Jay then turned to Cornell University’s online program, where he received a certification in Food and Beverage Management.
Now, inspired by the farm-to-fork food culture and natural beauty, Chef Jay has brought his talents to the capital city of California! With the founding of FoodSmith Dining, Chef Jay is embarking on a new adventure in hopes of bringing his knowledge, experience, and fine-dining expertise to your home kitchen.
