i, I’m Mathew Fischer, or Chef Mat, of Epicurean Chef Service.  My long-standing passion for food has taken me through the culinary countryside of Sonoma County, to a love of crafting creative meals for enthusiastic eaters, and ultimately as an unpaid mentee under a classical chef.  This is where my passion coupled with determination and hard work forged my new profession.  Within three years and a ton of hands-on experience I sought out a more diverse culture, leading me to the farm to fork capital.

Coming to the valley of Sacramento, I held a few restaurant positions, including Chef de Cuisine for Scott’s Seafood and Executive Chef at Bella Bru.  My desire to invite, educate and nourish has kept me a constant learner and inspired me to teach others.

Working in the restaurant business was an invaluable education, and though I enjoyed several aspects I decided to venture into entrepreneurship once I became a family man.  Epicurean has stretched me in many ways, one of which is becoming well-versed in working with different ingredients due to food allergies in my own family, as well as clients.  Learning to experiment and play with new flavors and finding new ways to modify is a great challenge.

Owning Epicurean Chef Service has allowed me much of what I offer my clients today: quality time with family, freedom to pursue a healthier lifestyle, and an eagerness to share my passion with a hungry world.
