Divisi Strings of Houston

Divisi Strings is, at its foundation, the story of a group of musicians who wanted to have fun playing music together. We started as four friends studying music performance at the University of Houston and, in 2006, started calling ourselves the “Divisi String Quartet.”
Over the past 14 years, Divisi has grown in many ways. From that original quartet, we now have a roster of 60+ musicians. They are some of the very best musicians that Houston has to offer hailing from prestigious schools like Juilliard, Cleveland Institute of Music, the Peabody Conservatory, and many others. They are the musicians that you can peak into the pit and see performing for Houston Grand Opera and Ballet, TUTS, and Opera in the Heights. They are taking the stage with the Houston Symphony, Mercury Chamber Orchestra, River Oaks Chamber Orchestra, and the Shepherd School Symphony.
And when we sit down together as a string duo, a harp trio, trumpet with a classic quartet, the Amp’d String Quartet or one of our many ensembles… they are our friends.

Every event we perform, be it a wedding, a gala, a retirement dinner, a mitzvah, or a holiday service, is an event we are honored to be a part of.
