My name is Kirk Miller and I am the owner of Captain Kirk’s San Francisco Sailing. I hold a 100-ton US Coast Guard Master Mariner license.

I have over 30 years sailing experience including 20 years experience sailing San Francisco Bay and one ocean crossing.

Over the years, I have taken many people sailing on San Francisco Bay. Sometimes it is going under the Golden Gate Bridge or circling Angel Island or sailing lessons to prepare for bare-boating charters. I enjoy every sailing trip and make sure that my sailing guests have a great time as well.

I have a Masters Degree (Civil Engineering) from Stanford University. I have recently retired from a 20 year career in the engineering field to pursue my love of San Francisco sailing. I sail because I enjoy sailing, and I have purchased two boats that I enjoy sailing every day.

I have cruised and raced extensively (Chesapeake Bay, Long Island Sound, California coast, British Virgin Islands, Mexico). In April 2006, I helped deliver a boat across the Pacific, from the Galapagos Islands to the Marquesas (French Polynesia). The trip was 22 days and we covered over 3000 miles. In October 2008 we started an eight-month trip to Mexico, covering over 5,000 miles along the Pacific coast and into the Sea of Cortez.

I am a certified instructor with American Sailing Association (ASA) for basic keelboat (BKB), basic coastal cruising (BCC) and coastal navigation. I have taught at several San Francisco sailing schools. Whether sailing offshore or a simple Alcatraz tour, I can provide instruction for various levels.

I am married with two children (ages 16 and 14). The entire family enjoys sailing San Francisco bay and I have taken the kids on numerous sailing trips in San Francisco Bay and on an extended trip to Mexico.

I hope that you will come sailing with me and enjoy the thrill and beauty of sailing on San Francisco Bay.
